Sessions with my past BG Families, might just be some of my favorite sessions! And the Lopez’s Argitopia Farm Family Photos was definitely one of my favorites!! And not because everything was easy and perfect (because ohh boy do I have a story for you!) but because of who I got to work with!
You may recognize this sweet family! I took their photos back in May at Morrison Ranch. You can see their photos from that session HERE. And it’s such a treat to take their family photos TWICE in one year, plus they joined me at the Back to School Portrait Day!
And let me tell you, I just love everything about the Lopez family! They are all so easy going, which pairs wonderfully with my Type A personality! And it feels like every time we talk we just click… Everything from how important family truly is to our love for white picket fences!
The morning of their session was pouring rain! Which I would gladly welcome all the cozy fall feels any other day … but on session day, it can be a bit nerve racking. Thankfully, the sun peeked out and dried up all the puddles before we started shooting. I thought for sure that was as crazy as our evening would be and the rest would be smooth sailing. Well, …
As I was driving over, I realized that a Saturday in October at Argitopia Farm might be a bit busier than normal because of other photographers taking Christmas card pictures. But I didn’t even think that it would be homecoming until I pulled in! The place was packed with both photographers, families, and so so many highschoolers!!
I took the Jette’s Family photos and was almost certain that by the time we finished their session and the Lopez’s arrived, the highschoolers would be off to their dinner reservations … well, I was wrong. It only picked up more for the Lopez’s session! PEOPLE EVERYWHERE!
The crazy thing is, normally in a situation like this I would jump ship and find a quieter spot for us to shoot at, but Argitopia is big and to walk from one beautiful spot to the next, would take quiet a bit of time … and the sun was setting fast! And honestly, I was certain every beautiful spot was packed! So, there we were in a tiny space by the arch, people everywhere all trying to work together so everyone could have a nice picture, sun setting.
And can I just say, this is where my heart soars! I am so grateful to work with clients, like the Lopez’s who are so trusting!
If I were them, I would have thought that this photographer is crazy. There is no way that you can get a good photo of us here with so many people in the background. The whole time they were so calm and so trusting that I was getting good pictures – even though I’m sure it felt a bit crazy. It gave me the space to go with my gut to get the pictures, without any questioning at all! And with a few angle adjustments … they look like they are completely alone on this beautiful farm! Crazy!
The other thing is they completely rocked it with posing considering how many people were watching …um, “hello pressure!” We had to pause shooting in between each shot to let crowds of people pass! That would have made me so nervous and feel awkward. But they kept their cool, weren’t stressed in the least bit and still had fun with it! They still spent the whole time cracking jokes and making me laugh!
I am so excited to now be sharing these Behind the Blog Videos — this is a good one!
Like I said in the Rodriguez’s session, even the sessions that seem like they’d be the easiest, bring their own set of challenges to the party… possible puddles, sun setting quickly, super crowded! And that’s half the fun! I hope you enjoy watching they’re behind the scenes…
And enjoy scrolling through the Lopez’s Argitopia Farm Family Photos! I’m proud of all us for these beautiful pictures!
