Can I just say, it is so much fun to have your portraits done when you’re a photographer yourself! It’s SO good for me to feel what it’s like to be on the other side of the camera. To be reminded of the challenge of styling outfits (Especially for a family of 6!! Even more kudos to all my BG moms who have done this really well! I’m always impressed with you) And then it turns out that awkward “what should I do with my hands” feeling… never really goes away. I’m always glad to flip the roles and see what my clients really need in a photographer.

I asked my good friend Olivia Gunnell if she wanted to swap sessions and she said yes, but we’re waiting to take her maternity photos in January! And she was such a joy to work with! And our family photos turned out so good!
We have taken family photos every single year growing up. Even when money was tight, my mom would only ask for family photos for Christmas and I’m so glad she always did push for them. It is one of our favorite things to look back at all the pictures over the years. To not only see how we’ve grown and changed but you can see how all our relationships with each other have only grown closer! It is such a gift to have these legacy-leaving photos captured!
If you are a mama, I’m telling you to push for these photos. Make it a point to take your family photos at least once a year! It doesn’t need to be perfectly styled or put together. It’s okay if your little one is silly in the photo and not perfectly smiling. These are the photos that tell your family’s legacy and you will want to have them when they are all grown.
I could go on and on about how much I love these photos. It’s bittersweet to think that these could be some of the last few years with just the six of us in the picture. I know these photos are such treasures for my family! And since I can’t possibly share them all, enjoy scrolling through a few of my absolute favorites!
