I’m extra fun with caffeine.

Sundays with family are my happiest days.

My perfect morning consists of an early morning sunrise, coffee, and quiet time with Jesus.

I could binge on chocolate, cookies, and “The Office” all night long.

Grease and Mamma Mia are my jam.

My ideal night is sitting around the fire pit and pool with my girlfriends.

My favorite trip has been to the Big Island, Hawaii, but my dream trip is Copenhagen, Denmark.

I want to say I love living out in the country, but I really enjoy picking up a latte at the Starbucks on every corner.

Spring Troon North Scottsdale Wedding | Catherine & Zach

Catherine & Zach’s Spring Troon North Scottsdale Wedding was absolutely beautiful! From the weather to the bridesmaid dresses & florals, to the gorgeous husband & wife portraits, their wedding was perfect!

I will be honest; this feels like picking a favorite child … err lens… but Spring weddings are my favorite! It just seems to me that Arizona shows off a little extra in the Spring and everything feels so bright and cheery with all the sunlight (and not overheating). I love how the florals in the spring tend to be a bit more playful! And Catherine & Zach’s Spring Troon North Scottsdale Wedding was no different. Not to mention, how spectacular their florals were!

Catherine & Zach chose not to have a first look and wait for the aisle moment, which was very sweet. I second shot this wedding for Lexy Popa Photography. So Lexy met up with the girls in the morning at Lexy’s parents’ home & I met Zach and the guys at Troon North. Once, the girls arrived at Troon North the whole day was smooth sailing!

If you are ever curious why us wedding photographers never shoot a wedding solo, think of the second shooter as one of the handlers at Disneyland. Snow White or the bride gracefully makes her way through the crowd smiling, waving, and thanking everyone for coming, while the handlers and busy with the clipboards, fluffing Snow White’s dress, and pushing their way through the crowd saying things like “I’m so sorry. Snow white can’t pause for a picture right now, she has to go powder her nose and her meet Prince Charming at the well. But you can catch her at the reception later.”

Second Shooters, while they do take a lot of photos, they primarily take care of all the backend details. Here are a few of the jobs of a second shooter:

  • Photographing the groom & groomsmen getting ready photos, group photos, and canids
  • Setting up the first look
  • Gathering the bridal party all in one spot
  • Hustling over to capture details of the ceremony space untouched
  • Second angles (wider photos & tight photos) during the ceremony
  • Directing family members and calling out names during family formals
  • Fluffing the dress over and over again (one of my favorite parts of the job)
  • Bringing the bride & groom water
  • Carrying gear
  • Capturing cocktail hour
  • Second angles (wider photos & tight photos) during the husband and wife portraits
  • Sneaking into the reception space to capture details of it before the guest enter

… my feet ache just writing out this list. The second shooter not only allows the bride & groom to have so many more photos from their day. But it also frees up your main photographer to focus on YOU and capture the very best photos.

I LOVE getting to serve so many couples as a second shooter throughout their wedding day! And it was an honor to do just that for Catherine & Zach’s Spring Troon North Scottsdale Wedding.

I hope you enjoy scrolling through Catherine & Zach’s Spring Troon North Scottsdale Wedding photos and seeing their day through my perspective!

P.S. I lied the 50 mm is still my favorite lens. ?
