I have a few favorite things when it comes to photography…one is walking into someone’s home and seeing their BGP photos displayed. The other is when a close photographer friend asks you to be the one to capture their special seasons and moments!
Olivia and I have worked with each other for the past 2 years and she is the absolute sweetest! We swapped family sessions this year, she took my family’s photos back in October, and then she asked if I could take her maternity photos in late January!! They are expecting their second little boy in March! Over the years, I have heard her share so much about her family, so it was so nice to finally meet them.
Typically, Arizona is bright, sunny, and warm in January… it’s like perfect weather. But on the day of their session, it was cloudy, rainy, and cold. We decided to bump the start time of their session up a little bit (and I’m so glad we did!) because we were able to get a few photos with the nice glowly light before it tucked back behind the clouds!
Olivia had her hair and makeup professionally done before her session and she looked STUNNING! Between her hair and makeup and the glowly light, we got so many gorgeous desert maternity portraits!
One of my favorite tips for family sessions with littles, that Olivia and her husband did, is to bring a close friend that the littles are comfortable with to help watch them during the session… this is a game-changer (especially, for desert sessions!) It’s nice to have an extra pair of eyes on your kids, while you are taking photos with just your husband. It’s nice to have someone who can blast ‘baby shark’ in the back and make them laugh for the photos. This really takes away so much of the most stressful part of family sessions!
Poor little Isaac stumbled and accidentally sat on a little cactus toward the end of the session, but he was such a trooper!! And I can’t get over how cute he is in some of these pictures!! Olivia and Jose are the sweetest parents to Isaac! This new little boy is pretty lucky! Congratulations you guys!!
