April’s mini session is here! And oh boy, it’s a good one!! You are in for a treat with these TWO Coons Bluff Family photos!

I guess you could say this is Part 2 of my mini sessions series for 2025! A very unofficial blog series! For 2025 I’ve decided to open up a mini session day for just about every month! You can view all my 2025 Mini Session Days HERE. And this is April’s! You can also check out last month’s mini sessions at the Rose Garden — some of the dreamiest mommy & me photos you’ll ever see!
Originally, this session was planned to be photos with the beautiful desert poppies, like Olivia’s Family Session HERE. But we ended up needing to switch the location to Coons Bluff because there was not a poppy in sight! Due to our lack of rain in November & December there were no Spring poppies! Such a bummer! I will be adding that to my prayer list this Fall!
I will say a lot of the time with my family sessions, I try and share the reality behind the beautiful photos you see on the blog. It’s why I started the Behind the Blog Series! Because while we may end up with dreamy photos, that doesn’t always tell the full story of the session. Each session brings it own set of challenges: weather, prom night, rain clouds, heat, wind, busy location, teething babies! All of it. But these two sessions really were so different! Truly, the sessions were as beautiful as these photos!
They were both so calm and peaceful! The weather was perfect and the desert was in a wonderful mood! No bugs, snakes, or pokies all over! Coons Bluff was so beautiful with the light shinning through it! And both families had such a calm and peaceful presence! No hurry or stress. No one at their wits end. Just so much love! Lots of laughs and snuggles and playful moments! And I’m telling you that makes a WORLD of difference when it comes to your photos!
It was also fun because I got to meet one super sweet new family, The Millers! And I got to reconnect with one of my favorite past families, The Clarks!
Coons Bluff Family Photos | The Millers:
The Millers came from Tucson for this session! Sarah had just finished taking her LAST class at ATSU on the day of their session! She graduates in May and they were sharing all about how they are heading back home to Idaho after graduation! You can tell just how excited they were to be heading back to be close to family once again! And Adi was turning 4 that weekend! Two very big and exciting milestones for their sweet family!
I think it’s safe to say Adi stole the show! I don’t think I’ve ever worked with a 4 year old who was so good at taking photos! I’m pretty sure we could have stayed out all night had the sun not set! At one point I posed Sarah & Preston with lots of detailed instructions, then I went on to pose Adi in just the same way! It wasn’t until I paused for a minute and said, “I think I forgot you were 4! I posed you just like your mom! And you did everything perfectly!”
The Clarks:
I met the Clarks a few years back & just fell in love with their sweet family! They’ve joined me for both the Back-to-School Portrait Day 2023 AND 2024!! Wow! And we took their family photos Fall of 2023 at Morrison Ranch! It was such a treat to have them in front of my camera again!! Carson is 8 now and Kennedy is 6 years old! And they always make me smile — I think we talked about everything from the Forrest Frank concert to their giant ice creams and everything in between! There really is something so special about getting to photograph a family again and again! I LOVE it!
I am so excited to be sharing so many beautiful photos from these two super sweet Coons Bluff family photos! Everything about the day, these families, and these photos was just perfect! I hope you enjoy scrolling through it!
